A few reasons why murals are better than wallpaper

Murals are better than wall paper, boom I said it. Shots fired. Am I biased as mural painter? Absolutely! Sure! But let’s dive into a few reasons why I think murals are better over all investment than wallpaper. Humor me folks.

Custom murals are a great way to affordably infuse unique style into a short term rental or Airbnb. And you might say ‘Sky, that’s true for wallpaper as well!” You’d be right but you’d be forgetting all of the factors that make murals the more custom choice, the more authentic choice and the more affordable choice in the long term.

1. Unique and Customizable: Hand-painted murals are one-of-a-kind creations that can be customized to suit your specific preferences and needs. You have the freedom to come up with the style, design, and colors that perfectly matches your space and personal taste. Wallpaper however leaves you searching the internet for hours hoping to find something in just right impossible combination that “might” work and may leave you compromising your vision. Murals can also seamlessly integrate with the architectural elements of a space by being painted directly onto the walls, ceilings, doors, windowsills, columns or other surfaces giving you the options of a completely cohesive and integrated look. Wallpaper, unfortunately doesn’t have the same versatility and therefor may appear disjointed, or have visible seams, especially when applied to irregular or non-standard surfaces.

2. Authentic Artistic Expression: Hand-painted murals are a form of artistic expression that can add a sense of creativity and individuality to your space. Your guests will appreciate the authentic environment you’ve curated. Showcasing the talents of a local mural artists uplifts your community and creates a much more personal relationship with your home. Wallpaper, on the other hand is less intimate and lacks the same tactile vigor of a hand painted mural.

3. Longevity and Durability: Hand-painted murals are typically more durable and long-lasting compared to wallpaper. When properly maintained, a hand-painted mural can retain its beauty for many years, while wallpaper may start to peel or fade over time. Additionally, hand-painted murals can be touched up repaired or even painted over entirely with ease whereas damaged wallpaper often needs to be completely replaced in a messy and costly process that may even damage the wall surface underneath requiring even more costly repairs.

The many advantages of hand painted custom murals over wallpaper are evident. Murals are more customizable, more authentic and personal, can be painted places that wallpaper can’t, and murals are more durable and cost effective in the long run. Hiring is a muralist for your next accent wall (or ceiling! or garage door! or window reading nook!) is the better investment.
